The Production Module allows you to create an AWS instance, a virtual computer, to operate vMix in the cloud.
To get started, go to the Production Tab and click Add vMix Instance.
Assign a Name to your instance.
Select an Instance Type. The instance type determines the power of your module and affects the hourly cost.
Choose your cluster option. You can either attach the instance to an existing cluster or create a standalone instance.
If you attach your instance to an existing cluster with transcoding enabled, the instance will be able to access your VVCR streams via NDI.
Make sure your cluster has transcoding enabled and streams are set to "Transcode to NDI" in the stream settings.
If you don’t need to access VVCR streams and only want to use vMix in the cloud, select None from the Cluster dropdown.
Then Select a Region and the VPC for your instance.
The default username is Administrator. You can change the password if needed.
To attach additional storage, check the box next to Attach Additional Storage and enter the desired amount.
Press Save.
It may take up to 10 minutes for your instance to fully start. In the backend, VVCR will boot up the instance in EC2, configure settings, and install drivers and programs.
The Production Module Menu lists all active and paused instances.
VVCR displays the following details about the instance:
- Instance Name
- Hostname
- Private IP
- Instance Type
- Username
- Password
- Status
- Create Date
The status will change to Launching, Active, Stopping, Stopped, or Deleting depending on it’s current state.
Download the NICE DCV Client Application to access the instance. For the download link and more information about NICE DCV, click the question mark icon above the Production Module list.
Open the NICE DCV application, enter the Hostname of the Production Module, and click Connect.
Enter the Username and Password, then click Login.
Your instance comes pre-installed with NDI Tools, vMix, Companion, and Adobe Creative Cloud. Note: You will need to provide your own licenses for vMix and Creative Cloud.
If your cluster has NDI Transcoding enabled, you can access VVCR streams through NDI Studio Monitor and vMix.
To stop the instance, return the Production Module Tab of VVCR and click the Stop button. Remember to stop the instance when you are done for the day, as charges apply for every hour it runs.
Stopping the instance is like shutting down a computer; all your files will remain saved until you delete the instance.
To delete the instance, go to the Production Module menu and click the Trash Can icon.
