NDI Inputs allow you to bring in any NDI stream within your VPN as a VVCR Stream. This can be used to pull NDI streams from a Production Instance into a VVCR stream to be recorded, added to a Multiview, or pushed to a Destination.
NDI Inputs only work on clusters with transcoding enabled.
Go to the Clusters tab and click Add New Cluster.
Add a Name, select a Region, and select an Instance Type. Under the Instance Configuration section, enable Use Transcoding.
Once the Cluster is Active, go to the Production tab and click Add vMix Instance.
Add a Name, select a Cluster to link it to. You need to link it to a cluster with transcoding enabled to utilize NDI inputs. If you just want a cloud machine to work on, select None.
Select an Instance Family, then select an Instance Type. Read the Instance Type descriptions to pick the best size based on your workflow.
You can find more information on Instance sizes on page 22 or on our support site at support.vvcr.tv.
If you want to have additional storage on your virtual machine, check the Attach Additional Storage box and type in how much storage you want to add.
Press Save.
It will take a few minutes for the Production Instance to start up. The status will say Launching while it’s turning on.
Once the instance is ready, the status will turn to Active, and VVCR will display the Hostname and IP Address for the instance.
To connect to your instance, you need to download the Amazon DCV Viewer client application. This is a free application, and you can download the app on as many machines as you need. Click on the Help icon at the top right corner of the screen.
This will take you to our support article. Scroll down until you see the DCV Viewer Download Link.
Click Amazon DCV Client and download the version for your machine.
Follow the installation instructions. Then open DCV Viewer on your machine.
Go back to the Production tab and copy the Hostname.
Then paste the Hostname into the DCV Viewer window. Click Connect.
The first time you connect to your instance on a machine, you will get an “Your Connection is not secure” message. Click Trust & Connect.
Go back to the Production tab and copy the Username and Password.
Then copy and paste them into DCV Viewer.
Click Login.
Now you have a Windows computer in the same VPC as your VVCR streams. Then open vMix. You will need to provide your own license key.
Click Add Input and add any streams, graphics, or media you need for your stream.
Once you're ready to send the stream to VVCR, click on the cogwheel next to the External tab and go to Outputs / NDI / SRT section.
Click NDI On next to any Outputs you want to send to VVCR.
Go back to VVCR and click on the Streams tab. Click Add New Stream.
Give the stream a Name. Click on the Input Type dropdown menu and select NDI Stream.
Then select one of the NDI feeds from your Production Instance.
Now your NDI stream can be routed to a Destination, Multiview, and be recorded.
